Durable power of attorney

Standard Power of Attorney lapses and becomes ineffective if a person becomes incompetent and unable to take care of their personal affairs.  By adding special language, under Oregon law, you can create a Durable Power of Attorney which is effective after the person becomes unable to take care of their affairs personally so long as the person was competent at the time the Durable Power of Attorney was executed.  Any Power of Attorney should be given only to a person whom you have absolute trust and confidence in.
